Jimoh Babalola University, Ilorin, has successfully organised its first orientation programme for its newly admitted students, marking the beginning of their academic and personal development journey in the institution. The programme commenced with the University Anthem, setting a tone of pride, unity, and purpose for the freshers.

In his welcome address, the Officer-in-Charge of the Vice Chancellor’s Office, Prof. Muftau Adeniyi Ijaiya, charged the new students to remain disciplined, focused, and be committed to excellence throughout their academic stay. He encouraged them to take advantage of the learning opportunities provided by the University while upholding the institution’s values of integrity, diligence, and academic excellence.

Delivering the guest lecture, the Dean of Student Affairs, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Dr A.T. Lawal, provided an insightful presentation on achieving educational success while maintaining a healthy balance between academic and social life. He also emphasised the importance of skills acquisition and entrepreneurship, describing them as essential tools that would enable students to remain relevant and competitive in the evolving global economy.

The programme also featured an interactive session during which the newly admitted students asked several important questions relating to their academic life and campus experience. The questions were satisfactorily addressed by members of the University Management, further demonstrating the institution’s commitment to student support and academic excellence.

Other Principal Officers present at the session included the Acting Registrar, Mr S.O. Oyebamiji; the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Dr D.S. Omotoso; the Acting Admissions Officer, Mrs O.R. Oyerinde; and the Acting Student Affairs Coordinator, Mr Q. Jimoh.

The orientation programme underscored the dedication of Jimoh Babalola University to nurturing well-rounded graduates who are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and character required to contribute meaningfully to society and compete globally.
